I believe that when I go to bed
These spirits lay bad dreams upon my head.
They were born some years ago.
In the shadows of my room.
I walk these muddy roads,
every once in a while.
And I try to come back home
before it gets too dark.
And then, when I lay down
the night puts it's color on my heart.
Get the candles and put them on the dresser
So we can see our silhouettes, just like in the movies.
I feel a weight inside my chest.
not sure what I would be without it.
And then they show up, standing at the windows,
looking inside.
They look familiar, but you say that it's just the past.
And then I just ask tiredly when I get to rest.
Time to throw some wood into the oven, so it won't get out.
In the morning I will clean up the mess you left behind.
And I will realize that maybe you left coat or something else.
The wind will blow through the open door as I walk into the forest.
Maybe for the last time, maybe not.
